Simple Woman's Daybook

For today, Monday March 2, 2009

Outside my window...there is SNOW!!! lots and lots of it and the weatherman says more is coming!

I am thinking...I'm not sure what to have for lunch.

I am thankful for...my family

From the kitchen...with our electrical issues (see Around the House), haven't been able to use the oven since last Tuesday. For this week, I plan on using the crockpot, doing stuff on the stove top until it's fixed.

I am creating...Tucker and I made the Mardi Gras mask. Didn't get to the scrapbooking but did do some cross-stitching.

I am wearing...a green sweatshirt and jeans

I am reading...finished The Wives of Henry VIII by Antonia Fraser and am now reading The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory, about the first queen, Catherine of Aragon. With Tucker, we read Three Little Cajun Pigs for Mardi Gras, assorted picture books, and 20 Hungry Piggies for National Pig Day (yesterday).

I am hoping...that Tucker and I will get over our colds.

Around the house...When we had those electrical issues last week, we had some residual effects. Namely, no power to the oven and microwave. Because we've only had the stove for a little over a year, we had Sears come out and basically the control boards on both the oven and microwave were blown! So the guy ordered the parts and they should be coming in today or tomorrow. We will then call Sears and they will come back out to install it. Even though it's a pain to deal with, the upside is that Michael called the electric company and they are reimbursing us for the repairs! We're still debating about the what to about the microwave because it might cost us more to fix it than it would to just get a new one. Elsewhere in the house, Valentine's Day is put away and St Patrick's Day is now out. the rest of the house is actually pretty neat considering I spent most of yesterday in bed...
laundry needs to be folded...dishes are in the dishwasher.

I am hearing...the fish tanks and Tucker laughing at Robin Williams in "Flubber"

One of my favorite things...listening to rain on the roof while falling asleep

A few plans for the rest of the week...working on the PTO fundraiser...a home visit tomorrow...orientation with another home care agency (also per diem)...senior center on Thursday...watching "The Other Boleyn Girl" (I rented it from Blockbuster-the wait time was 'undetermined' at the library, whatever that means)...bringing stuff to the consignment store tomorrow...listing items on eBay.

A picture thought...

Today we obviously had a snow day and even though both Tucker and I are fighting colds, he had to go outside this morning and play in the snow. He didn't last long and hasn't mentioned going back out so I guess he got it out of his system! He's curled up on the couch now with a blanket watching "Flubber"

I think we're up to four and thank goodness for delays because I've lost track of how many of those we had plus a couple of early dismissals! Good thing we didn't have that full week of February vacation though at the time we were kind of bummed!
