Days 2 & 3 in Disney

To move this along a little faster, I'm combining Days 2 & 3. Today we went to Animal Kingdom and Julie, Jonathan, Madi, and Jake were going to meet us there!

The one thing my mother requested was a picture of Tucker with Tigger, her favorite character. Not only did we find Tigger, but we found Pooh and Eeyore, too!

A funny thing happened when we left Pooh. Michael went to pat him on the head, thinking it would be soft and nearly knocked him over!

We met up with Julie, etc after this and rode Kali River Rapids and had a BLAST!!!! I wish I had thought to bring my waterproof camera with me because we got soaked and it would have been fun to have a few pictures! We got right back in line for the ride and were almost on it when it broke down. They ended up closing it for the rest of the day.

A cool-looking dude I met in Africa! (I didn't catch his name though-lol!)

We took the truck to Rafiki's Outpost to check out where the take care of all the animals. We found Jiminy Cricket and Rafiki and had our pictures taken with each of them! I read somewhere that these are two of the rarest to find!

Next we headed to the safari ride and while the story about poachers was kind of lame, we did see quite a few animals and had a fun time trying to spot the animals...

A hippo...
Some oxen...

An ostrich...

An elephant...

Trading pins is a huge deal in Disney. Julie had given Tucker a lanyard and some pins for his birthday to get him started. He learned all the tricks from Julie's kids and turned into quite the little barterer!
We stayed until the end of the day to see the parade but they ended up cancelling it because it was raining! We went back to the hotel for a little while and then back to Magic Kingdom for dinner at Peco Bill's and to see the Electrical Parade. I wasn't feeling great but thought it was just too much food and the heat. I'll spare you the gory details. Let's just say we couldn't stay for the parade and headed back to the hotel.

The next day (Saturday), I still wasn't feeling well, so Michael and Tucker headed back to Magic Kingdom and this was when they rode Space Mountain 4 more times and went to Tom Sawyer Island which Tucker LOVED!!!!!

As you can see, he had a great time exploring it all! He even posed in the scaffolds (is that what this is called? I can't remember!)

They came back to the hotel in the afternoon and I was feeling better. We wandered around the resort a little more and found Mr and Mrs Potato-Head in the 80s!
As well as Twister in the 70s...

Julie and her kids came over to join us in the pool...Tucker and Jake really hit it off and had a great time in the splashpad...

Michael also served as a great floating device...and gave Tucker and Jake a ride around the pool!

Saturday night we had reservations for the Hoop-De-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness. It was a vaudeville type show with great food!

They come around and literally plop the food right in front of you...fried chicken, c\mashed potatoes, baked beans, mac and cheese. I wish you could have seen the look on Tucker's face when they put this in front of him!
It was a really great show and I definitely highly recommend it! It just a really fun time!

Day 4 is up next...Hollywood Studios!

Daybook

For today...Monday, October 18, 2010

On My Mind...feeling tired.

Outside My window...after a really windy Friday and Saturday, yesterday was a gorgeous day and so was today! Enjoying the fall weather!

What We're Reading...I just started The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I haven't had a lot of time to read lately so I;m hoping for some time this weekend. What little I've read I've enjoyed. with Tucker, we're reading books about Minnesota (the state we're up to in the Postcard Swap).

What We're Listening to...I just finished My Name is Memory by Ann Brashares which was absolutely amazing! I just started Imperfect Endings, about a woman's mother who has Parkinson's and wants her daughters to help her commit suicide.

I am Hoping...to sleep better tonight.

In the Kitchen...one of my favorite meals tonight: chicken, risotto, and peas...coming up this week: pork chops, spaghetti, tacos.

Around the House...it's pretty neat because we had family over yesterday...the dryer's running.

Coming Up This Week...soccer practice Tues and Thurs...Haunted Hayride Fri night, carnival at Tucker's school Sat...last soccer game Sat afternoon...demo derby Sat night...scrapbooking at my Mom's Sun.

A Picture Thought...
Tucker and I weren't able to be at the beginning of the Relay for Life this year but we went back at night for the luminary ceremony, where they light candles all around the track for cancer survivors and those who have lost the fight. My mom took this picture of us!

Disney Trip, Day 3

On our second day in Disney World, we headed for the mouse himself! Into Magic Kingdom we go! To the Contemporary Resort for breakfast at Chef Mickey's!

This was my breakfast! YUMMY!! The Mickey Mouse waffles were unbelievable!

While you eat, the characters come around to the tables to see you and take pictures. We weren't sure how Tucker would be because he's never been a big fan of posing with Santa or the Easter Bunny but he jumped right up and posed with everyone! (Don't let his face fool you; he had a GREAT time!)

Now that we were full, it was time to head to Magic Kingdom. We took the Monorail, which was fun! We made it to the castle! (I have pictures from the Disney Photo Pass of us in front of it; when I figure out how to get them on the computer, I'll share them!) when I asked Tucker what he thought of the castle, he said he thought it would be bigger! lol

We headed straight for Space Mountain and went right on! Tucker loved it and in fact, when he went back with Michael on Saturday, they rode it four more times!
Another fun ride in Tomorrowland was Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger! Tucker sat with Michael and had a great time shooting the guns! Tucker also really enjoyed Carousel of Progress and still sings the song every day!

Michael was the brave one to get in a car with Tucker! Let's just say that I don't have to worry about Tucker becoming a race car driver! He was holding up traffic! Apparently there was some disagreement about who was supposed to be pushing what pedal....

We made our way through Fantasyland to the Haunted Mansion. It's a Small World is closed for renovation and they're building a castle for Belle! The Haunted Mansion is one of my favorites! We rode it 3 times in a row! Then we waited for Jul and the kids to catch up with us there. While I waited for them, Tucker and Michael rode it again and then we rode it with all of them!
Next we made our way over to Big Mountain Thunder Railroad which said it had a 20 minute wait. It took us 20 minutes to get to the ride itself and it was so much fun! Julie took this picture of Jake, Tucker and Michael!
After lunch at Peco Bills (yummy Taco salad) , we made our way to Pirates of Caribbean and it was yet another ride we loved!

We made our way through Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse which was really cool. Then it was time to stake out our spots for the parade!

Some characters....

We then went back to the hotel for a little while to relax in the pool and then we headed to our dinner at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge. This place was a lot of fun and the food was AMAZING!!!! After a couple of days of Disney food, it was nice to have homestyle food!
this was definitely a fun place-when Tucker asked for Ketchup, a couple brought over twenty bottles! Tucker also got to ride a broomstick pony around the restaurant with all the other kids!
Michael and Tucker were impressed with the milkshakes!

So that wraps up Day 3 of our trip! Next up....Animal Kingdom!
