Simple Woman's Daybook

For today, Monday, January 12, 2009

Outside my window...it is sunny and cold. We had snow over the weekend and are expecting more tomorrow and Thursday.

I am thinking...I need to eat lunch after I do this; I'm hungry!

I am thankful for...family

From the kitchen...tried a new chicken recipe last night that was yummy. Tonight probably eggs and toast (it's just me and Tucker). Tomorrow Cheesy Meatball Soup in the crockpot and probably poor mans beef stroganoff Wed. I'm hoping to make cupcakes this weekend (Prudence Pennywise -check out her blog of the same name-is doing a cupcake-of-the-month thing so I thought it would be fun to try to make them!)

I am creating...not too much in this department

I am wearing...jeans and a Block Island sweatshirt

I am reading...just finished The Last Lecture
and will be starting Last Kiss by Luanne Rice. Michale and Tucker are still reading Polar Bears Past Bedtime. With Tucker, we read books about hibernation, Amelia Earhart, snow, and winter. He continues to do an AWESOME job of reading to us every night
!
I am hoping...I get a job soon and also that we can pull off this basket raffle successfully.

I am hearing...the fishtanks, the washer, the news-talking about Revolutionary Road, which I want to see.

Around the house...cleaned really good on Saturday and still looks pretty good...the dishwasher is still a problem, some one's coming to look at it tomorrow...the army fortress is still set up down here...clothes need to be folded.

One of my favorite things...Tagalong cookies-tis the season for Girl Scout Cookies and Edy's Tagalong Ice Cream-Yum!

A few plans for the rest of the week...character education meeting after school today...PTO meeting tomorrow night...mailing out donation request letters...soliciting donations at the mall...my birthday on Thursday...Cub Scout meeting Thursday with tour of firehouse beforehand...Tucker's sleeping over my mom's Fri and Sat...lunch and an art museum with a friend (we get together to celebrate our birthdays and Christmas)...to my mom's on Sunday to celebrate my birthday.

A picture thought
This is from the ice storn we had last Wednesday. Tucker did not have school and we lost electricity from 8:30 to 3:30 because a tree fell on some wires down the street. It was a LOOONG day!

I'd love the cheesy meatball soup recipe. Sounds good and hearty!
I haven't read the Last Lecture but I have seen some of it on tv. I love it. I love how simple he is about so much stuff. My sister let her son paint his room red because of Randy Pausch. It's just paint!
I enjoyed your daybook!
