Ocean Beach Cruise Night

On Monday night we headed to Ocean Beach with Tucker's friend William along. Monday night is Classic Car Cruise Night and parking is free and rides are cheaper.

We started out by playing in the sand and Tucker, William, and Michael had a great time digging and then running into the ocean to get wet!

We then headed over to the water slide and they had a great time playing there! (Michael included!)

And of course, we can't forget the cars!!!

We ended the night having dinner! The boys got a cool kid's meal in a car! William's always good for a smile!

Yankees Game

For his birthday, I bought Michael tickets to a Yankees game for him and Tucker. (his birthday is next month).

So off they went to catch the 7:55 out of New Haven; it goes directly to Yankee Stadium.

They had a lot of fun but it was really hot so they left before the rain delay so they actually made it back from NYC in time to watch the end of the game. Considering we live about 3-4 hours from NYC, it's kind of funny!

Buttonwood Farm

On Sunday, we went to a local farm, Buttonwood Farm, that grows 15 acres of sunflowers every year and raises money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. The sunflowers ere gorgeous!!

You can take a hay ride through the farm and into one of the sunflower fields!

They sell bunches of the sunflowers for $5 and they were so pretty, I had to get one!

I didn't get any pictures but they also have great ice cream!

Check out my new blog!

Lately I've noticed that I'm becoming more selective about what books I am reading. I've also enjoyed participating in a few book blogging-type things so I've created a book blog to keep track of these. I'm hoping you'll come over to visit!

So Many Books, So Little Time

Celebrating the 4th of July and my Mom's Birthday

I know, I know...it is now the 7th of July but I was having issues loading the pictures onto the blog. It was taking FOREVER and it is way too hot to play around for long on the computer!

We headed to the Boombox parade in Willimantic this year. (the parade in my hometown, that we've gone to the past 2 years, was on the 5th this year and that just didn't seem right!) We got there about an hour before it started and already it was packed! Luckily, Eileen and the gang had secured a good spot for us!

Here's Tucker in all his patriotic finery!

From R-L: Eileen, my mom, Michael Doreen, Eric. and Cassandra. tucker is in front

Tucker waits for candy. We were pretty close to the beginning of the parade so there was no chance anyone was going to run out! He filled that bucket at least halfway!

The start of the parade!

A cute flamingo float!

What's a parade without a firetruck?!

Gotta love army trucks

tucker has been learning to dive in swim class!

Tucker enjoys the pool

Eric claimed he was teaching Cassandra how to dive and he was going to "nudge" er a little...I don't know, I think she was pushed!!! lol

Tucker always enjoys playing with Eric!

Michael constructed a float out of the noodles

Tucker and Cassandra

We also celebrated my mom's 63rd birthday!

She posed with Tucker!

Fireworks!!

We usually go see Fireworks at the Sailfest each year but it's next weekend and Tucker and I have tickets to the WNBA All-start game. This year the town of Norwich had fireworks at the CT Tigers baseball stadium. Tickets were free!

Tucker enjoyed the bouncy house---seriously, is there a bouncy house this kid doesn't enjoy?!

I took this picture of Tucker and me...

The gates opened at 5 and there were activities for the kids. While we waited, we listened to two different country bands and the mascots made their way around (the stadium has had three different baseball teams in its time). Around 8, the Norwich Arts Council band went on the field and played patriotic music before the fireworks.

Then---it was finally time for the fireworks!! They were awesome!

After the fireworks ended, it took us almost a half hour to get out of the parking lot! We didn't get home until almost 11!!!

Our busy but Fun Day

Bare with me--I'm a little behind! A week ago Saturday, Tucker and I spent the day partying! Literally!

We started at the end-of-season baseball pizza party at his friend Chase's house (his father helped coach the team with Michael and another dad) This is Tucker and his friend Chris enjoying pizza!

All the boys got trophies for playing this season

The highlight of the festivities was the wiffle ball game!

We couldn't stay for the whole game though because it was onto Andrew's 6th birthday party! Andrew and Tucker have both been at the same daycare since they were 2 months old so they're like brothers!
Of course, Tucker went right into the bouncy house!

Then it was onto the water slide, always a hit! This year they set it up with the kiddie pool at the end! Tucker was the oldest and the only one who could enough speed to actually go airborne and land in the pool-it was pretty cool!

Next they moved to the water guns and had a water fight!

Then it was time for us to go to our next party so Andrew opened Tucker's present before we left!

Finally we were on our way to the last party of the day-my cousin's daughter Libby, who also turned 6. (to help you appreciate the logistics, we drove 20 minutes from Andrew's to pick up my mom and then 45 minutes to my cousin's). Libby has a twin brother and sister, Adam and Chelsea. My cousin Tim was pulling them around in a wagon and Tucker thought it was fun to hop along behind them

Libby's beautiful cake----made, as usual, by my cousin Tim! He took cake making classes just so he can make her cake every year!

Surprisingly Tucker wanted a piece of cake!

Here he enjoys it!

The birthday girl opens some presents

It was a long crazy day but it was fun! We didn't get home until after 9:00 and boy we were tired!
