Happy Father's Day

We started the day with Tucker making waffles for Michael (at 6:30!!!) and then presenting him with the cards he made in school...

My sister-in-law brought Styrofoam airplanes for the two of them to put together and then they flew them off the deck!

It was time to eat and as usual, Michael was the cook!

We all sat inside because it was too hot outside. Which ended up being a smart thing because about 10 minutes after we sat down, it POURED!

Tucker and I gave Michael a hammock!

A rare family picture!

Michael and Tucker try out the new hammock!

Last Day of School

Today was the last day of school! Tucker is officially a third grader!

We had a fun day at the school! They had an awards ceremony in the morning and then got to meet their teacher for next year-he has Mrs Malinick. We spent about 45 minutes in her classroom and they did a little getting-to-know-the teacher "test". She seems pretty nice. None of Tucker's closer friends are in his class but I'm sure he'll be fine.

After we finished meeting the teacher, we went and got our lunch. This year they had the 1st Annual Family Picnic! We could order grinders and bring blankets, etc and eat on the big field by the school. We found a good spot with Maddie and Freddie and their parents. They had a rock wall for the kids but Tucker didn't want to go on it. (he's tried one before and doesn't like the way the harness feels) So we went and cheered on his friends.

Next it was over to the DJ area to dance! He played all kinds of great music and even the Chicken Dance and YMCA. The gym teacher had taught them all a dance to YMCA so he got them moving to the music!

Here Tucker dances with Maddie

It was really hot and Tucker had decided he had enough! We went to sign out with Mrs. Holmes and he got one last hug! He did really well this year and has done really well in reading especially-he is above-grade level now in reading and I just have to brag a little! It's hard to believe this is the same boy who couldn't read at all when he started 1st grade!

It was a good year and it's hard to believe he's now a third grader!

My Daybook

For today...Tuesday, June 15, 2010

On my mind...quite a few things actually! First I'm pretty impressed with myself! Some parents had posted a few pictures of Tucker on Facebook and saved to them to my computer but then wanted to edit them before I put them on the blog and was able to save them to my camera and edit them! very cool! Maybe the rest of the world already knows how to do this, I don't know, but it made my day!...second, I had my bladder test today and I definitely don't have interstitial cystitis, I have adenomyosis which is the opposite of endometriosis. So the only thing I can do is take pain meds as needed and then if that doesn't work my only other option is a hysterectomy And finally, I made it through the first week of weight watchers and lost 4.8 lbs!

Outside my window...it was actually a nice day today. I think the next few days are supposed to be nice.

What We're Reading...I'm still reading The Grapes of Wrath and actually enjoying it in a way I'm pretty sure I never did when I "read" it junior year of high school. With Tucker, we're almost done with Double Play at Short and he's really liking it. We have a few reading challenges to do this summer and Tucker's excited about reading more of this author.

What We're Listening to...finished Olive Kitteridge and though I wasn't sure I would like it at first, it turned out really good! My friend Joan recommended The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks (it was on my TBR list already) and I found it at the library today. It's pretty interesting so far.

What We're Watching...seems like they picked the Top Ten really quick on SYTYCD; still learning their names. I really enjoyed it last week and was glad to see Lauren back as one of the All-stars-she was one of my favorites the season she was on...a Yankees game always seems to be on...anything on Nickelodeon.

I am hoping...to get some sleep tonight.

Around the House...laundry waiting to be folded and more to be washed. Seriously, how do three people create so much laundry?!?...actually pretty clean and I was able to vacuum Sunday.

Coming Up This Week...busy, busy, busy...last baseball game tomorrow night...dinner with my friend Dawn from VA and Maria from work that we grew up with...Tucker's last day of school on Friday with a family picnic at school...going to see Toy Story 3 with Tucker's friend Maddie and her family Fri night...Tucker's haircut Sat...celebrating Father's Day here on Sun.

Some picture Thoughts
...

Now that I'm so computer/camera literate, I can share a couple pictures of Tucker from Field day last week that Mason's dad took

Poet's Breakfast

Tucker's class has been working hard on writing stories and poems this year. This morning they had a Poet's Breakfast to show off all their hard work. They each read two of their poems.

But first they started with a little song and dance number:

One by one they read their poems and then it was Tucker's turn. He reads his so quick I barely had time to snap a few pictures!

It was a really nice day and so wonderful to hear all the poems they have written! They all did a great job!

My Daybook

for today...Tuesday, June 8, 2010

On My Mind...After seeing a few unflattering pictures of myself, I have finally taken the leap and joined Weight Watchers on-line. My plan is also to walk 15-20 minutes/day. We'll see how this goes!

Outside My Window...the sun has just set. We have had some really nice Spring days.

What We're Reading...Finished Home to Big Stone Gap and resumed Grapes of Wrath (which I started about a year ago and didn't finish)...with tucker, we finished Harry Kitten and Tucker Mouse and we're now reading Double Play at Short. I can't think of the author but he writes a lot of books about sports Mark Christoper, Mike Christoper??? I think we'll be reading a few of them this summer.

What We're Listening to...finished The Prophet of Yonwood and now am almost done with Olive Kitteridge for the Take Another Chance Challenge.

What We're Watching...glad that SYTYCD is back as well as Kate Plus 8 (we taped it and still have to watch it)...can't believe the finale of Glee is on already!...also happened to see Driving Miss Daisy which is one of my favorite movies; now I want to see Fried Green Tomatoes!

I am Hoping...to stick with the walking and weight watchers.

In The Kitchen...made ziti tonight and strawberry shortcake for dessert: yummy!...not sure what else for the rest of the week.

Around the house...I can finally vacuum on Sunday and it desperately needs it!...dryer and dishwasher both running...laundry to folded and one more load to wash.

Coming Up This Week...baseball game tomorrow night...CT Sun game with my mom Friday night...soccer travel team try-outs Sat and Sun.

Some Picture Thoughts
...Tucker and I went to The Providence Children's Museum on Saturday and had a great time!

My Daybook

On My Mind...I had my first mammogram today and it feels like I made it through a rite of passage, somehow! The technician was really nice and I actually laughed through most of it. It wasn't the most comfortable thing I've ever done but I have definitely experienced more painful things!

Outside My Window...the sun is getting ready to set. We had a pretty bad thunderstorm earlier this evening and then it just rained. At least it will cool off now.

What We're Reading...I finsihed The Queen's Fool for the Tudor Reading Challenge and also Right from Wrong for the Take Another chance Challenge. Today I started Back Home to Big Stone Gap, the last book in that series. We haven't gotten any postcards this week, I think we're supposed to be on Delaware. Tucker's favorite this week was Memorial Day Surprise .

What we're Listening to...finished The People of Sparks and now listening to The Prophet of Yonwood which is the prequel to the series.

What We're Watching...still lots of iCarly, Victorious, and Big Time Rush...Glee is still a favorite and of course, SYTYCD and strangely, looking forward to Wipeout starting tonight...also Kate Plus 8 starts next Sunday!

I'm hoping...to write more posts than just my weekly Daybook! I need to get with it!

In the Kitchen...tried a new chicken recipe tonight which was very yummy...tacos, chicken brushetta...strawberry shortcake, too!

Around the House...really clean; Felix was still having issues with fleas so the vet recommended we flea-bomb the house, which meant we had to vacuum, set the bombs, and then not vacuum for two weeks......dishwasher and dryer running...clothes to be folded and more to be washed.

Coming Up This Week...baseball game tomorrow...possibly practice on Friday...CT Suns game at the casino Fri night with my mom.

Some Picture Thoughts from the Memorial Day parade...
